Dear Diabetes

Dear Diabetes,

It's me,Nora. Why do you have to make my life so miserable? Why can't I just be like most of the other 12 year olds in the world? You surely get in the way of a LOT but, it doesn't stop me though. I just walk right past you. I really hate you but...one thing I do like about you, is that you ONLY make me strong. So I guess no thank you but thank you? Goodness...you are complicated. Whenever I'm playing a sport you just HAVE to mess with me. I mean like excuse me but, when I play sports it's MY free time, not yours. I am not being selfish. If anyone is being selfish...it's you. You just take my life away and not in a good way. This past summer you just had to get into my sister. Is this a joke to you? It's not a joke to anyone else. Well...I'm not waisting anymore time on you right now.
Not Yours Truly,
Nora

p.s. to anyone else that is suffering with T1D 💙STAY STRONG💙

My Life

Hello everyone! It's Nora.I'm just a fellow diabetic waiting for that cure. I've been waiting for seven years for the cure. I got diagnosed with T1D when I was 4 years old and now I am turning 12. It's been a big part of my life even though I don't want it to be. Diabetes is only making me stronger than weaker. A lot of the time I ask "why me" or "why can't I just be normal" but than I realize if it weren't for T1D than I wouldn't be the person I am today. I have a lot of supplies that help me live. I have a insulin pump, a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and a glucose monitor. All of the supplies makes my life so much better. Did I mention that I'm not the only one in my family that has T1D? Yup.. that's right, my eighteen year old sister just got diagnosed this past summer. It was really hard for me to see her go through what I had to go through. My four year old brother has Hemophilia which is a disease where if you get a cut or just a bruise he can't stop bleeding unless he gets medicine called factor. How fun, right?

sisters forever <3

That is me playing softball

That is my sister.

Now, I don't know about you but, I am done talking about T1D for now! I guess the only think to talk about now is my life "outside of diabetes." Well I LOVE to do sports! The sports I play are basketball, softball, volleyball, and track. I am on the A team for basketball and it's my favorite sport! This will be my first year doing volleyball and track because before I did competitive gymnastics. My favorite subject in school would be science because I like to do experiments and things like that. Well, I hope you learned some things about me! I'll be blogging soon! (:
